Literary Birthdays for February 3rd

Gertrude Stein: She was born on February 3, 1874 in Allegheny, PA and died on July 27, 1946 in the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Stein was a poet, short story writer, novelist, and literary experimentalist who spent most of her life in France.

James Michener: He was born on February 3, 1907, probably in New York City, and died on October 16, 1997 in Austin, TX. He authored more than 40 titles, the majority of which are novels of sweeping sagas, covering the lives of many generations. Michener was known for the meticulous research behind his work.
