Author Janet Lynn Mitchell will be sharing her own personal story of determination, courage, and faith as a victim of medical malpractice on Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 at 6:30pm in the Library's auditorium. Her newest book, Taking a Stand, recounts the events following a botched surgery in which Janet lost the use of her legs. Ten surgeries and fifteen years later, she was shocked to learn that her unfortunate surgical outcome was due to medical negligence and concealment. Janet has since become the voice for otheres who have suffered medical malpractice, and new California laws have been unanimously passed as a result of her story.
